Amos Lee released a cover of Lucinda Williams’ “Fruits of My Labor.” The track is set for Lee’s upcoming tribute album, Honeysuckle Switches (The Songs of Lucinda Williams), due out on Record Store Day Black Friday, November 24 via Thirty Tigers.

Honeysuckle Switches is Lee’s second tribute album in as many years after releasing My Ideal, an ode to jazz great Chet Baker, in November 2022. Amos’ last original album, Dreamland, arrived in early 2022.

Lee has admired “songwriting hero” Lucinda Williams’ work since he began listening as a teenager in Philadelphia. The singer-songwriters later collaborated on “Clear Blue Eyes” from Lee’s 2011 hit record Mission Bell and have also shared stages together.

Amos previously previewed Honeysuckle Switches with “Greenville,” Lucinda’s own collaboration with the legendary Emmylou Harris on the formers’ Grammy-winning 1998 album Car Wheels on a Gravel Road. Lee now shares “Fruits of My Labor,” originally appearing on Williams’ Grammy-nominated 2003 record World Without Tears.

Lee became reacquainted with “Fruits of My Labor” in St. Louis while on tour after hearing actress Britt Lower perform the song. “It unlocked something,” he said. Listen to Amos Lee’s rendition of “Fruits of My Labor” below:
