Amanda Shires and Jason Isbell shared a new song, “The Problem,” coinciding with International Safe Abortion Day. The wife/husband duo will donate proceeds from the sales of “The Problem” to the Alabama-based reproductive justice organization Yellowhammer Fund.
Shires and Isbell performed “The Problem” during last Friday’s I So Lounging livestream from their home in Tennessee. The single was produced by Shires and Dave Cobb and features Sheryl Crow on bass, Peter Levin on keyboards and Chris Powell on drums.

“This song is about making tough decisions and not having to go it alone,” Shires stated.
Shires recently contributed to Luke Combs’ single, “Without You.” Shires and Isbell were part of last year’s debut album by The Highwomen with Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby and Marin Morris.
“To me, ‘The Problem’ is a song about supporting someone you love through a difficult time,” Isbell added. “It’s about helping without exerting your own will. I support a woman’s right to choose, and I know these choices are never easy.”
