Amanda Shires, Jason Isbell and keyboardist Peter Levin returned to the barn Friday night after I So Lounging took some time off. The trio covered Van Morrison and also celebrated Lisa Fallon’s (Amanda’s mom) birthday.

Shires, Isbell and Levin kicked off the stream by playing — with some hilarious debate about where to start the song — “Happy Birthday To You” for Lisa who enjoyed “HBDTY” from the “front row.” Lisa is an “artist, cocktail maker, computer operator [and] Doctor of Nursing” as Amanda posted on a previous I So Lounging. The band then got into Shires’ “Eve’s Daughter” — from the singer-songwriter’s 2018 album To The Sunset — which featured some spirited singing and fiddle from Amanda.

Next, Isbell made it known that he disagreed with Van Morrison on the latter’s opinions about masks and also modeled a high-coverage protective garment in protest. But being the good guy that he is, Jason then led the group, by request from Lisa, through the Van Morrison favorite “Into The Mystic.” The trio continued with Amanda’s “Charms” and closed out the session with Shires’ “Pale Fire” from her 2016 album, My Piece Of Land.
