Allman Brothers Band Play Penultimate Show Of Career
By Scott Bernstein Oct 28, 2014 • 7:10 am PDT

An intense first set started with a run of “Done Somebody Wrong,” “Leave My Blues at Home” and “Worried Down With The Blues.” Brother Gregg then led the group through a cover of Wilson Pickett’s “I Found A Love,” before Warren Haynes stepped up front for “That’s What Love Will Make You Do.” The fourth-to-last set in Allman Brothers Band history came to a close with Gregg’s signature “Midnight Rider” and an adventurous “Black Hearted Woman” that contained a more prominent “Other One” jam than usual.
The Allman Brothers returned to the stage with “Come & Go Blues” to kick off the second set. “Les Brers In A Minor” featured what’s become a tradition of this final run -a brief take on the gospel song “Will The Circle Be Unbroken?” Up next was a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Blind Willie McTell” and a standout take on “Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody’s Home” that spotlighted percussionist Marc Quinones. It was a full-on incendiary jam session to finish off the closing stanza with the dream sequence of “Dreams” and “Whipping Post.” It was hard not to get emotional when The Allman Brothers Band closed out the evening with a “No One To Run With” encore. If you can’t attend tonight’s final show, SiriusXM will broadcast a recording of the finale a number of times in the coming days.
