The Allman Betts Band was joined by sacred steel specialist Roosevelt Collier for a pair of songs this past Thursday night. Collier sat-in with the ABB at the end of their second set and encore at the Saenger Theater in Mobile, Alabama on February 4.

Roosevelt’s guest appearances came as part of The Allman Betts Band’s Bless Your Heart run of limited capacity/socially distanced shows which began late last month in Texas and is currently scheduled to conclude in Cincinnati this coming Sunday, February 14. Jackson Stokes opened for the ABB in Mobile.

The group led by Devon Allman and Duane Betts kicked off Thursday’s concert with “Airboats & Cocaine” and “King Crawler,” a pair of tracks that appear on The Allman Betts Band’s 2020 studio album, Bless Your Heart. A cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Shakedown Street” was then followed by “Left My Heart In Memphis” from Devon’s time in Royal Southern Brotherhood. Next, The Allman Brothers Band classics “Blue Sky” and “Jessica” were split by originals “Magnolia Road” and “Raining Straight Down.”

Collier first emerged after performances of “Down To The River” and “Shinin'” from The Allman Betts Band’s 2019 debut studio album, Down To The River. Roosevelt helped the ABB honor Prince with a set-closing “Purple Rain” cover. The Allman Betts Band then began the evening’s encore with Bless Your Heart single “Pale Horse Rider” before bringing Roosevelt Collier back to add to the “Dreams” (Allman Brothers Band) finale.
