Alabama Shakes brought a song about holding onto hope to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, October 5. The band performed “I Feel Hope Coming” from I Must Be Dreaming, their first new studio album in 11 years.
Released on August 28 via Island Records, I Must Be Dreaming followed Alabama Shakes’ 2015 sophomore album, Sound & Color. The band recorded the new LP at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studios and Blackbird Studio, co-producing with Shawn Everett, who engineered and mixed Sound & Color.
“This younger generation makes me feel hopeful because they can see through all the political lies,” Brittany Howard said of “I Feel Hope Coming” in a press release. “That song’s about holding onto that hope, and refusing to give up.”
“I’m really happy that song exists,” added guitarist Heath Fogg. “It came from such a joyful moment of collaboration, and exemplifies everything I love about this band being reborn.”
Howard, Fogg and bassist Zac Cockrell reunited in December 2024 after a six-year hiatus. Alabama Shakes returned to touring in 2025 and released “Another Life,” their first new original music in a decade, ahead of this year’s album.
