Adrian Quesada made a trip to NPR headquarters to capture a Tiny Desk Concert as part of NPR Music’s celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. With the help of four singers and a seven-piece band, Quesada presented songs from across two volumes of his Boleros Psicodélicos.
Adriaan Quesada (Black Pumas, Grupo Fantasma) released Boleros Psicodélicos in 2022. The Austin, Texas-based musician followed with Boleros Psicodélicos II in June 2025.

For his Tiny Desk Concert, Quesada delivered four boleros. NPR’s Felix Contreras offered some more details on the bolero in the article accompanying the video:
Bolero, a Cuban song form that has not changed much over the centuries, has always been an opportunity for vocalists to inhabit the undeniable drama of the lyrics. Heartbreak is a big deal in boleros and it’s easy (and common) for vocalists to overdo the drama with overwrought vocal gymnastics. That is not the case here. Each vocalist has the discipline and artistic vision to insert just enough of themselves to leave an impression, but not overstate their case.
Adrian Quesada’s Tiny Desk Concert began with “No Juego” featuring Angélica Garcia. Next came “Tus Tormentas” with Mireya Ramos and “Hoy Que Llueve” with Trish Toledo. The session concluded with “Mentiras Con Cariño” featuring iLe.
