Lettuce/Break Science drummer Adam Deitch is the featured guest on the latest episode of Osiris Media’s podcast Eric Krasno Plus One. Deitch discusses his career with host and Adam’s former Lettuce band mate Eric Krasno in the 75-minute podcast.
Kraz’s relationship with Deitch dates back to their teenage days and they are still best friends. Eric notes meeting Adam and his family was crucial to his development as a musician. The pair’s easy rapport is noticeable immediately, as they’ve shared the stage hundreds of times and spent many days in the studio together.

Eric and Adam shared many stories over the course of the episode, including Kraz’s recollection of the first time he met Deitch’s family. Adam discussed some of his formative musical experiences and the impact his parents — who are both musicians — had on him. Deitch explained how he got a gig touring with the Average White Band at age 18 and told the tale of life on the road with John Scofield in the Uberjam Band.
The pair each recalled how Lettuce’s sound developed and their diverse influences, which spanned Phish to Earth Wind & Fire to Miles Davis to James Brown. Deitch noted how important Kraz’s positive outlook is and helped the drummer realized how anything was possible for his career. Other topics hit upon were the marriage of funk and jazz with jam music, performing with Pretty Lights, Lettuce’s recent Grammy nomination and more.
