49 Winchester Heralds New Album ‘Leavin This Holler’ With ‘Emotional Sledgehammer’ Single

49 Winchester detailed a new album, Leavin’ This Holler, due out on August 2 via New West Records. The Virginia-born alt-country outfit also shared the single, “Fast Asleep,” featuring the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.

Leavin’ This Holler follows 49 Winchester’s acclaimed 2022 album, Fortune Favors the Bold. The band captured the new record “in a handful of studios around the country whenever there was a rare moment between relentless touring schedules,” as per a press release. 49 Winchester kicked off the album rollout with the single “Yearnin’ For You.”

49 Winchester — guitarists Isaac Gibson and Bus Shelton, bassist Chase Chafin, pedal steel guitarist Noah Patrick, keyboardist Tim Hall and drummer Justin Louthian — produced the 10-track Leavin’ This Holler with Stewart Myers.

Guest spots on the album include singer-songwriter Maggie Antone, fiddler Philip Bowen, guitarist Cole Chafin and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. The latter contributed to 49 Winchester’s latest single, “Fast Asleep,” which frontman Isaac Gibson detailed.

“This tune is an emotional sledgehammer. I wrote it when I was 19 years old, as one of the very first 49 Winchester songs. We used to play it live, back in those earliest days, but it somehow worked its way out of the setlist. We knew it was still a great song and wanted to breathe new life into it, and I think we achieved that. It features the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, and the sounds they were able to capture really add a lot to this track. The pedal steel on the chorus is some of my favorite work on the record from Noah.”
