Today, the nominees for 2015 induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame have been revealed and they include Lou Reed, Green Day, Nine Inch Nails and Stevie Ray Vaughan. The Smiths, Bill Withers, Sting, NWA, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Chic, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Kraftwerk, The Marvellettes and The Spinners round out the list of nominees. Reed is already an inductee as a member of The Velvet Underground, while Sting was inducted as a member of The Police.

Artists or bands must have released their first single or album in 1989 or earlier in order to be eligible for 2015 induction into the Rock Hall. We’re disappointed but not surprised to see Phish, who released Junta in 1989, passed over in their first year of eligibility.

Rolling Stone is holding a fan vote up until December 9, but bear in mind the fan’s ballot counts as only one of more than 700 ballots from artists, industry insiders and historians that count towards determining the 2015 inductees. The induction ceremony will take place in Cleveland on April 18, 2015 and we should find out who made the cut towards the end of this year.
