The Lemon Twigs: What We Know

Continuing to knock some of these excellent under-radar releases from last year off the list and into your ears, this week gets going with The Lemon Twigs – a band helmed by two brothers in the NYC area. Their debut album What We Know came out back in the summer, but bubbled up into my regular rotation through the fall with their unique vision in the dreamy psych-pop realm. The album builds in complexity and finds increasingly interesting directions the further you dig, so give this one a deep listen and keep on the lookout for these guys to build on this one in the near future.

All Them Witches: Dying Surfer Meets His Maker

All Them Witches is one of those bands that you hear for the first time and think to yourself “why didn’t anyone tell me about these guys!?” Their newest album, em>Dying Surfer Meets His Maker starts off with an innocent (but excellent) bit of folky rock ‘n’ roll that manages to both prove the Nashville band’s impressive range as well as obscure the rest of the album which is exploding with one heavy psychedelic head-banger after another. Deep rocking awaits. Enjoy.
