14-Year-Old Pianist Owen York Combines 29 Phish Songs Into 1 Medley

It’s been nearly two years since talented youngster Owen York first came onto JamBase’s radar with an impromptu performance for Umphrey’s McGee fans. York is now 14-years-old and continues to unveil impressive medleys combine portions of songs from multiple artists. Owen’s latest medley finds him fitting in portions of 29 Phish songs within one 17-minute medley.

Owen said the following of the medley below was inspired by, “Listening to Phish frequently as I grew up, finally seeing them at Baker’s Dozen, and playing jazz, rock, classical, and jamming for eight years.” The medley starts with “Julius” and includes portions of 28 more Phish gems such as “Fuego,” “The Squirming Coil,” “Down With Disease” and “Reba.”

Owen is a member of the Rockland Youth Jazz Ensemble, consisting of elite musicians from New York and New Jersey. Keep your eyes on York’s YouTube channel for future medleys.
