Widespread Panic Announces New Album & Drummer Update

Georgia rockers Widespread Panic have announced their long-awaited 12th studio album will be released on September 25 via Vanguard Records. Street Dogs is the name of the new LP which was recorded as a band, live in the studio, for the first time. Today’s announcement also revealed Todd Nance will return to his role as Widespread Panic drummer in 2016.

Street Dogs was recorded at Echo Mountain Studios in Asheville, North Carolina with long time friend and producer John Keane at the helm. While Todd Nance is expected back in 2016, current drummer Duane Trucks was behind the kit for the Street Dogs recordings.

The new album, which is the band’s first studio LP since 2010’s Dirty Side Down, includes 12 tracks. A press release notes “the folk/jazz infused ‘Angels Don’t Sing The Blues’, the flowing ‘Poorhouse of Positive Thinking’, the boogie blues of ‘Street Dogs for Breakfast’ and the epic New Orleans inspired ‘Cease Fire'” will be featured on Street Dogs as will covers of Alan Price’s “Sell Sell”, Murray McLauchlan’s “Honky Red” and Willie Dixon’s “Taildragger”, made famous by Howlin’ Wolf.
