Follow Friday | Prince

Master guitarist and genre-crossing legend Prince has a love hate relationship with new technology that tends to lean heavily on the hate. Bordering on being a Luddite when it comes to the internet and its associated channels, The Purple One erased his official Facebook and Twitter accounts last November after only a little over a year of sporadic activity. And while we realize we may be going out on a limb here, this week’s selection for Follow Friday is the recently re-activated official Prince Twitter account – @Prince3EG.

As the handle implies, the account services both Prince and his current supporting band 3RDEYEGIRL. And while the account has only sent out nine tweets, so far it’s proven fruitful.
Last Saturday Prince posted his recently penned song “Baltimore” on his newly established SoundCloud page, sharing it with the world via the @Prince3EG account’s first tweet:
Then on Tuesday of this week he tweeted a link to a recording of his May 2 Dance Rally 4 Peace concert:
Prior to his Rally 4 Peace concert in Baltimore last Sunday, Prince tweeted a couple of photos as well as a local news story on the event:
He’s also shared links to recordings by two artists he’s apparently a fan of: Lianne La Havas and Judith Hill:
And that’s about it, so far, from Prince on Twitter. Here’s hoping he sticks around a little longer this time and uses the platform to let us all know where the next Hit & Run Tour stop will be.
