Voodoo Dead Supergroup Debuts In New Orleans

Republic in New Orleans hosted the first of three sold out Voodoo Dead performances on Friday night. Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann teamed with guitarists Keller Williams and Steve Kimock as well as keyboardist Jeff Chimenti and Widespread Panic bassist Dave Schools for a mix of Grateful Dead classics such as “Scarlet Begonias” and “China Cat Sunflower,” songs associated with New Orleans like “Hey Pocky Way” and choice covers including Stevie Wonder’s “Boogie On Reggae Woman” and “It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry” by Bob Dylan.
Voodoo Dead returns to Republic tonight with special guests George Porter Jr. and Papa Mali.
