DVR Rewind | Jimmy Fallon & The Roots Fill In For U2

By Scott Bernstein Nov 18, 2014 7:00 am PST

Over the weekend, U2 lead singer Bono suffered an arm injury which left The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon without a musical guest for each of this week’s episodes. Last night Fallon took filling U2’s role into his own hands with the help of Tonight Show house band The Roots.

Fallon noted “we already have the best band in the world -The Roots are here every night.” He then went on to mention Bono’s wardrobe was already at the studio, “so let’s have some fun with it!” Jimmy and The Roots wound up delivering a spot-on rendition of U2’s 1988 hit “Desire.” The host busted out his best Bono impression throughout the well-played cover. Check it out:

We look forward to seeing what Fallon has in store for tonight’s musical performance.
