Tool Drummer Danny Carey Makes Primus Debut In Chicago

While Primus will embark on a Charlie & The Chocolate Factory-themed tour late next month, they focused on classics at the Riot Fest after-show in Chicago. In addition to performances of such beloved songs such as “My Name Is Mud,” “Here Comes The Bastards” and “Jerry Was A Race Car Driver,” the trio did have a treat in store for the capacity crowd. Towards the end of the set, Primus covered a bit of “Ænema” from Tool’s 1996 album Ænima. Claypool, Carey and guitarist Larry LaLonde performed the first verse and chorus of “Ænema” last night.
The trio paid tribute to Alexander by having video of Tim’s face displayed on the huge astronaut statues on both sides of the drummer riser. Primus with Carey on drums play Chicago’s Riot Fest tonight.
