Billy Joel To Take Up Residency At Madison Square Garden

Last month Billy Joel announced a number of shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City and today he took the relationship a step further. Joel has been tapped as MSG’s “first music franchise” meaning he’ll perform at the venue once each month for the foreseeable future.

Four monthly shows had already been announced and today it was revealed that Billy will celebrate his 65th birthday at The Garden on May 9. A representative for the venue said that future shows will be announced “at a later date” as it’s expected the run will continue as long as there’s fan interest. Joel has played MSG 46 times since 1978 leading up to the 2014 shows. In 2006 Billy set a MSG record by selling out a 12-show stand.

Joel even has his own logo as he joins the Knicks, Rangers and Liberty as MSG franchises:

UPDATE 12/4 9 a.m. PT: Billy Joel has added a June performance to the residency. Tickets for the June 21st show, as well as the May 9th birthday gig, go on sale this Saturday at 10 a.m. ET.
