Legendary Hammond B-3 Organist Dr. Lonnie Smith returns to Nashville, Tennessee in concert on Friday, April 5th, 2013 at Payne Chapel Church (212 Neill Ave) at 7:30 p.m. with proceeds to benefit Daniel Payne Outreach Ministries' The Living Breadbox, an emergency relief food pantry for area families, and The ASK-PEP Program, an initiative that promotes civility among under- represented youth in cooperation with Metro Nashville Police and Juvenile Justice Systems. All tickets are $20. The concert on April 5th, will be Dr. Smith's first live appearance in Nashville in six years. Since then, Dr. Lonnie has topped both the Jazz Journalist Association and Downbeat Critics and Readers polls as "#1 Jazz Organist". In 2012, The Good Doctor turned 70 and founded his own record label, Pilgrimage Productions, releasing a live trio CD, "The Healer". The disc received enthusiastic reviews in such publications as The Wall Street Journal, All About Jazz and Downbeat Magazine while reaching Number One on the CMJ Jazz Radio Charts.
