Official Video & Full Show Audio: Yonder Mountain String Band Covers Phish & Grateful Dead In Fairfield

By Scott Bernstein Jun 26, 2016 11:41 am PDT

On Friday night Colorado jamgrass act Yonder Mountain String Band performed before a capacity crowd of devoted kinfolk at The Warehouse in Fairfield, Connecticut. The band worked plenty of covers within a two-set performance that also included a bevy of beloved originals. A crispy recording of the show has surfaced as well as video of a Grateful Dead cover shot and shared by the venue.

Yonder kicked out the jams in the second set extending a cover of The Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Summer In The City” beyond the 20 minute mark to start the set and also delivered an adventurous “Sidewalk Stars.” The five-piece fit their take on “Scent Of A Mule” by Phish within the first set and nodded towards another jam titan with a rendition of “Shakedown Street” as part of the evening’s encore. Other covers performed in Fairfield included Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” Lou Reed’s “Walk On The Wild Side” and the Eagles’ “Life In The Fast Lane.” YMSB heads to Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania on Sunday.
