The largest dome in the world and the largest single-roofed structure in the world was built amid some controversy for £789 million just in time for the millennium, completed in June 1999.

North Greenwich Arena will play host to Artistic Gymnastics, Trampoline and Basketball in the Olympic Games, and to Wheelchair Basketball in the Paralympic Games.

It's the biggest and best arena venue in the UK but you pay well for food and booze once inside. Luckily, there are loads of restaurants in the complex to prepare you for the huge band that awaits.

This place will have the gymnastics competition and the basketball gold medal game. In other words, it’s not a bad place to spend some quality time while at the Olympics.

The plucky 20,000-seater has proved the critics wrong and established itself as the capital’s de facto home of the megagig.
