Phil Lesh, founding member of the Grateful Dead, formed Communion in order to have a consistent lineup that could expand the exploration of the GD repertoire, associated material, and original songs written by the band.
“Communion” symbolizes ultimate oneness – with others, and with the world in which we live, through a higher faculty of inspiration and intuition. This is the goal to which we aspire in music, and in life.
