Seven months removed from Widespread Panic's most recent live concert dates, Martyrs' in Chicago was packed to the gills with Jimmy Herring fans and Panic family alike as the heavy hitting quartet, the Jimmy Herring Band, took the stage. The sold out audience was treated to the eloquent efforts of Herring with his long time foil on drums, Jeff Sipe, and the limitless talents of Neil Fountain and Matt Slocum on bass and keys respectively. Highlights of the evening included renditions of Led Zeppelin's “Since I've Been Loving You” and The Beatles' “A Day In The Life.” The band is so talented that they captivated the audience all night without the need for any lyrics, even on the covers. After the show, Jimmy took some time beside his tour bus to discuss the finer points of music with his legions of fans.
