The official line-up for the 4th annual
Mark Vann Foundation Holiday Benefit

Mark Vann
All of Mark's friends are coming out for this one including; Great American Taxi featuring Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon, Flying Other Brothers featuring Barry Sless, Pete Sears, and G.E. Smith, Pete Wernick and the Boulder Valley Vanntastics, Bill McKay Band, Sally Van Meter, Rue, John McKay, and Reed Foehl.

Mark Vann's spirit parted company with his body on March 4, 2002. Mark consistently lived by the motto of "Go Big!" He applied this motto to both playing music and his unending willingness to offer his time and knowledge to teach anybody who wanted to learn. He encouraged others to "Dream Big," "Go Big," and "Pick Big," and personally supported their efforts to do so.

The Mark Vann Foundation was created to continue the spirit of joy, gratitude, and generosity that Mark brought to our collective communities through his life and music. The Mark Vann foundations primary mission is to serve community based non-profit organizations bringing light, love, and laughter into the lives of those in need through nature, music, and the arts; and to provide a conduit for kindhearted people with similar values to nurture impactful positive change within their own communities.

This year the 4th annual Mark Vann Foundation Holiday Benefit is no exception to the motto of "Go Big." With a strong showing of pickers, musicians, and friends from the Colorado area and beyond this show; is a must see. Besides all the great music, the night will also feature a preview of the new Leftover Salmon movie "Years in your Ears" including loads of rare and special Mark Vann footage. You never know what other musicians, artists, friends, family, or surprises might show up to celebrate the life and music of Mark Vann so make sure to come out and support the cause!

"Mark Vann's spirit parted company with his body on March 4, 2002."

How santimonious. Does that mean that he "died?"

From Webster: sanctimonious - making a hypocritical show of religious devotion, piety, righteousness, etc

Would you rather the article read, "On March 4, 2002 Mark Vann went to sit at Jesus' right side and teach him how to pick the banjo"? Love Ya' Mark!

Nanatod - Go eat a biscuit. Ignorance.

March Forth!

I really wish LOS was still around but I understand why they aren't. Wow. Good memories. Good times. Good music.

Banjovi was great, wish there was something like this every year for him. we saw one of leftover's first shows after he died a few years ago. pretty tough for them, even with such a great banjo player like noam stepping in for a while. hope they come back though. suck on it nanatod, not cool. if you would have known the guy like some of us you wouldn't be making fun of any part of this.

I am thankfull to have seen the original lineup of LOS. Kudos to everyone involved with this event. Lets all celebrate life while we can.

Panic in the Cave

Maybe Drew will show up. That would be nice. I miss Mark a lot. I was lucky enough to see him play with LOS on several occasions before and after the Jeff Sipe days. They always showed up to make you dance on your head. Festival up!

They had a certain connection, Drew, Mark, Vince, Tye, that was true magic. I also got to see a few guest banjo players after Mark died, Rev. Mosier and another guy. It was never the same. Always great but the group mind never seemed to emerge after Mark died.

Enjoy the event. Wish I was there.

You are probably thinking of Matt Flinner.

I enjoyed post-Mark LOS. It most certainly was not the throwdown party it used to be but the band was kind of moving away from that prior to Mark's passing.

Not sure why Drew isn't playing. DEB doesn't start touring till January. I did see he is recording something with Jeff Sipe in December so maybe that is what he is tied up with. Really, though, LOS was all about surprise guests and such so who knows...

Man, I miss this cats music. Salmon was never the same after Mark's passing. I got several chances to see and meet him and feel a lot better because of it. He was a funny guy!
