The Evergreen Lodge and Blue Turtle Seduction Present
"Las Tortugas Dance Of The Dead"
Featuring Blue Turtle Seduction, Tracorum The Trespassers and More!
The Evergreen Lodge will host a festive weekend of Halloween fun October 27-29 at their annual Halloween Festival classic, "Las Tortuga's Dance of the Dead," featuring musical hosts Blue Turtle Seduction, as well as Tracorum and The Trespassers. Located in the pristine natural setting of the southwestern rim of Yosemite National Park, this family friendly festival features two nights of foot stomping roots music, the annual Masquerade Ball, and a host of communal activities such as a pumpkin turtle lantern carving, ghost story telling, a kid's circus, as well as plenty of hiking, swimming, fishing and other popular outdoor activities.
"Las Tortuga's Dance of the Dead" doubles this year as the CD release party for Lake Tahoe favorite Blue Turtle Seduction. Formed in the Spring of 2001, Blue Turtle Seduction has been rapidly turning heads with their infectious brand of roots music, a mix of Roots Rock, speckled throughout with Mountain Raucous Rocky Grass, Middle Eastern and global traditional influences, a splash of punk rock and some swinging souped-up reggae. BTS' shows, now legendary in the west, are known for producing wild dancing, foot stomping, and brazen sing alongs, and seem more like a musical celebration than a concert.
Recently, the band was featured at the High Sierra Music Festival, the Seattle Hemp Fes, the Joshua Tree Festival, and the Fillmore Auditorium, and has shared the stage with high profile acts such as Michael Franti & Spearhead, Gov't Mule, ALO, George Porter Jr., Les Claypool, Leftover Salmon, the String Cheese Incident and Keller Williams, to name a short few.
The band will be celebrating the release of their second album in five years, Deep Sea Rodeo at this year's festival. Tom Gordon, the record's producer, delivered on many different levels during the recording process. Tom was able to bring the band's vocal presence to the forefront of "Deep Sea Rodeo." Tom is incredibly skilled in his approach to push the band's discipline, while capturing a snapshot of their many stylings across the Musical Landscape of Blue Turtle Seduction's music to date. Holding the band accountable to the art of crafting actual songs, BTS & Tom had a fantastic focus on composition and structure; extracting clean, tight changes with seamless transitions as the band's trifecta of vocals breathe just above the surface of the music. The results of that structure enabled the purity of fun and good times to come out and play throughout Deep Sea Rodeo.
Blue Turtle Seduction is touring the western United States at a blistering pace and will have delivered "The Real" at over 220 Shows by year's end. The musical growth and vocal prowess of BTS has been exponential as they embrace all of the challenges that lie ahead.
Embracing one of those challenges, BTS has converted to a veggie oil tour bus. A brand new state of the art system, the veggie fuel tank holds up to 260 gallons with a triple filtration system. The conversion system also has a revolutionary "Coil Heating System" that is the finishing touch in cleaning the veggie oil as it makes its way
into the fuel pump. This system allows for 75% less emissions of
green house gases than does diesel or regular fuel. BTS gathers this
veggie oil in grand Recycling fashion—the band gets their oil from thousands of restaurants, enabling BTS to burn a clean path across the nation. The band's efforts save barrels of veggie oil from accumulating at dump sites & avoids the use of fuels that are damaging to humans and the environment.
Catch the band live at this two-night magical musical experience. The band will be playing selections from the new album, as well playing master of ceremonies to a weekend of family, friends, fans, and fun!
