Madison House and Anon Salon Present
Produced in association with Peak Experience Productions

DECEMBER 30th and 31st, 2006

The String Cheese Incident
After a hugely successful inaugural event last year, Madison House, Anon Salon, and Peak Experience Productions will collaborate again for the Seventh Annual Sea of Dreams New Year's Eve event in San Francisco on December 30th and 31st.

Like last year, cultural forces will unite for two freaky nights at the San Francisco's Concourse Exhibition Center for the biggest New Year's-weekend gathering on the west coast. Expect three stages hosting an incredible roster of live bands - plus cabaret and circus acts, DJs and dance collectives, performance troupes, and more. All set within multiple thematic environments, this event promises something for people of every tribe.

Musical acts performing on the three stages include the groundbreaking independent rock band The String Cheese Incident (playing two full sets each night), British nu-school breaks producer Tipper, revolutionary underground artist Bassnectar, modern day traveling minstrel DJ Mark Farina, the down-tempo trip-hop dance music of Lotus, live electronic hipsters Pnuma Trio and plenty of others still to be announced.

Performance troupe and dance collective participants include The Indigo Belly Dance, The Mystic Family Circus, Black and Blue Burlesque Anon Salon's Circularious, and others. In addition to the stage performances, expect art encampments, novelty zones, installations, midnight spectacles, supergames, and everything. For complete line-up and details as they become available visit

Propelling the proceedings will be innovative entertainment booking and management company Madison House, and Portland, Oregon-based Peak Experience Productions. Both will join forces with long-time San Francisco art/event promoters Anon Salon (the co-creators of "Burning Man Decompression" and past "Sea of Dreams" NYE events).

Sea of Dreams is an epic costumed celebration of music, art and community. This colossal pageant weaves together a host of artistic communities to create a truly "emergent" cultural phenomenon. In the most unusual venue, with the most multi-faceted and unprecedented line-up ever, Sea of Dreams has altered the course of party history.

This looks like a whole lot of fun, wish I had some extra cash to make this happen. I mean SCI, Lotus, Pnuma, Bassnecter, that would almost be more than I could handle in two days. On the bright side I get two night of Lotus at the Fox this weekend so I have nothing to bitch about. Anyone who is going is a lucky soul in my book.

I can't speak for anyone, but it seems like they were using the term "queer" in a positive manner, like they were using the term "freaks".

I sure hope the420cloud was refering to the cops as the reignin "pigs" not the festival goers at high sierra. Just a little clarity please? Otherwise you can FOAD cause your just as beat as the bigots. If you think the HSMF attendees are gay bashing pigs, you must have a hard time funcitioning in this society, which really is full of bigots.

Looks like a great time.

I hope it rains inside at sea of dreams again this year. i also hope some wooky punches a cop in the face at the Zilla pre party again and gets every cop in the bay area at the venue. I do not however want to hear the words "String Cheese Radioactive San Fransisco two thousand and 7". Go to Sea of Dreams if you can. It's gonna be nasty.

I would just like to say that I think everyone seems to be forgetting what the jam/hippie scene is all about. Isn't it about peace, and love, and unity, and acceptance. I agree with the fact that some people may not like SCI, and to each their own. But why does that mean that we all have to divide into these little groups of people who "love phish-hate cheese" or "love cheese, hate panic". I, for one, enjoy the music of almost every jammy out there and feel very very sorry for all of you that think that just because you like a band so much, that you have to hate another. And FYI to those who say cheese is accomadating to thier fans, most of cheese fans enjoy the older stuff that has the blugrass jam feel to it as opposed to the electronic stuff of new. So keep your opinions to yourself. Like your mom always used to say..."If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." PEACE

Welcome to West Coastville!!! Where the High Sierra and the Gay Rainbows come together in ceremony and true freakdom!

HOT DAMN I am very fortunate to be out here already.

I went last year and it was THEE party. I would prefer to focus on one band for the night, but cant deny the cyber hippy connection that grows at this party. I love most of SCis tunes, when they werent doing it for me i would take a walk around. One of the most adventurous events Ive ever attended. This year I think there will be more dialed in and smoothed out...sound for example. Also, if you plan on going on the 31st, altho its a big venue it still gets super crowded and I got lost at Sea. hahaha

Aint nothin like an San francisco NYE....Im proud to be a part of this open minded community out here. Summer for me is all about The High Sierra....and the winter is all about SF on NYE. Its like what the Grateful Dead started for us and this is most definitely the celebration of THE FUTURE. Cant think of a better way to bring it in (OK, I can, add more bluegrass with that funk!)

For all the haters, its a shame that you make the community smell so freakin bad. take a fuggin bath already.

right on alcsidd17, why does everyone just listen to one jamband & just rip on the rest. there's a lot of bands out there i wouldn't pay to see that, but that doesn't mean others aren't havin a great time at. i guess its a gay band cuz it doesn't have all the frat guys goin to the shows so they can smoke weed & bob their heads. that being said, i saw wsp at merriweather this summer and was blown away.

cheese is my fav band out there right now, tho i do miss more of the old school bluegrass. the best scene around, hands down. wish i could go to see of dreams, but can't wait til 2 nights at the warner.

I just went to my 5th SCI show in Ann Arbor - and it was the best show I've seen. I've seen them at JazzFest, Big Summer classic and Vegoose. Never a huge fan - but they won me over last night. Long spacey, semi-electronica elements mixed in with the bluegrass core.

Not sure what all the "gay" comments are about. I'm not gay - have no problem with "gays" and was too busy dancing to focus on anything other than the music... Some of you folks have to lighten up.

u people have to all lighten up. i didn't say anything bad about being gay, u can be what ever you want to be (i listen to david bowie). i have seen SCI and they were o.k., but i was kind of bored. I like all music. I listen to everything from John Coltrane to Willie Nelson, Outkast to Woody Guthrie, G.D., Phish, WSP, MOE. and many others. I think SCI are mediocre and should have Keller sing full time. I'm definately not a frat boy, but i like smokin' and bobbin' my head at shows. in regards to the gay comment, it is a fact that they are putting on a gay show, not an opinion. read the article above.

cliff 420, dont judge a book by its cover, do a little research. this party is put on by anon salon, since i assume you know nothing about them, i will give youe a little backround, they put on the burning man festival, enough said, i went to the sea of dreams last year and the only showsthat i have been to that are even in the same level to the new years last year was the 4 night phish run in miami for nye 2003-2004. to anyone who is thinking of going, go, this is an unforgetable experience in an unforgettable setting, i need to get some cash together but this is by far my number one choice for nye this year

this is for nouser? what about clifford ball 96', great bent' 97, or big cypress 99'? u can throw out all these names of different shows that you've attended, but it still doesn't change anything. i read jambase everyday and have been following this music scene for 15 years and have had subscriptions to relix. i live in new york and have been to san fran twice before and even have had peeps in the area, but never heard of lotus, pnuma, or bassnecter and SCI is weak. Gov't Mule would kick there ass. The Beacon will be a much better place in my opinion to spend NYE. that's just my opinion. i've givin' SCI numerous chances, but have been let down over and over. i put up with all the trey haters on Phil tour this year and for what, yes he's been puttin' out cheese too lately. it doesn't change the fact that he's probably the most talented guitar player in the business. i don't want to hate, but i can't think of one SCI song that either sounds original or sticks out in my head. I guess if i went and got f'd up they may sound better, but they still sound like bubble gum pop compared to some of these other great jam bands. i would also take Galactic at Tipitinas any day of the week. The Grateful Dead is the Godfather of all these jambands and SCI sounds like the Monkee's compared to theme. peace

And I can see why some of you think SCI is Monkees, silly music....fluffy and know what, thats what I love about them. Believe me you'll find more hottie chicks at this NYE celebration than any other in the country. thats cuz SCi embraces that female element which is TRULY lacking in the jam band scene. If you dont like their sound, thats cool....but i just wanted to express taht this is why I dig their sound. I love all the sausage rock too, but its so dominating in our community. I'm about as straight edge is you get and last year was the sickest fucking party I've ever been to. If you can walk out of a place at 4am and look back and see 6000 people ripping it up to bassnectar after a 4 hour sci show and jeno ripping up old school techno you know you are seeing something. SCI is all over their music these days too. Thank god some of you pussys dont go to their shows and sit on your computers expending energy on how much you hate them. I can pitty you while having a great time. The SCI show I saw last weekend was better than any post hiatus phish I saw and most likely better than any 99-00 phish. Nouser and Clifton should be friends. You guys both speak truth. Clifton is right, Keller should sing for cheese full time, I don't think cheese is GAY, but they are lacking, still, the EXPIERIENCE I had at SEA of Dreams was top notch. The music could have been better but the people, enviroment, and overall vibe were only rivaled by (here you go Nouser) the Miami Phish run. However, I think the Miami shows blew Sea of Dreams out of the water. Comparing a 4 day Phish run to a two night Cheese gig is like comparing Babe Ruth to 14 year old. It just doesn't add up. Oh and doctor, I'm sorry for being 11 in 1994 and not being able to drive all around the country. You are special. Sea of Dreams will be dank shit, Lotus will kill.

Sea of Dreams was awesome, and the Cheese were playing great! Saw both nights. Great shows, both, the band was tight. Also caught ALO's opening set for the Cheese, and really enjoyed them. First time I'd seen them. Billy Nershi came out and played one funny little piece ["She looks good, even on the privvy" LOL :-)] with ALO. I don't think he knew what he was getting into, because when he heard the lyrics, he shot the keyboardist the strangest look. :-) Then he proceeded to jam along and jam well...I still can't believe he wants to leave SCI.

I'm a long-time Star Trek fan, too, so to hear the Cheese playing the theme from Star Trek at midnight was really cool! And then jamming on it! And for the encore, there was a major glowstick war...Some guys brought 10,000 of the things in a couple of duffle bags. What a glowstick shower!

Anyone else have a show report? Is this the place, or is this thread dead?
