Fans at the 10,000 Lakes Festival will have a chance to walk away with a limited edition, signed print series by poster artist Jim Pollock without spending a dime. All they have to do is stop by the booth run by HeadCount, the non-profit, non-partisan voter registration organization and enter a free raffle.
Pollock has generously donated a special uncut artist’s proof of the 10,000 Lakes Poster to help HeadCount spread the message that "Midterms Matter" referring to the upcoming midterm elections. The free raffle will be conducted throughout the festival, taking place this weekend, July 19-22 at Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, MN.
The one-of-a-kind proof sheets are specially signed by Mr. Pollock with “Midterms Matter” and his signature. Jim Pollock is famous for his work with the band Phish and political posters promoting a variety of organizations. As Phish built an enormous following, Pollock’s unique work was with them each step of the way, as their creative muse for flyers, shirts, CD art and posters.
To date, HeadCount has registered nearly 3,000 voters this summer since Memorial Day weekend.
HeadCount registered nearly 50,000 voters during its launch year in 2004, more than any all-volunteer group in the United States. This year, the organization aims to bring voter participation back to the forefront by reminding young people that “Midterms Matter,” referring to the midterm elections in which one-third of the Senate and all seats in the House of Representatives are up for re-election.
Jim’s biography and gallery can be viewed at www.pollockprints.com and up to the minute information about HeadCount and its activities in promoting voter registration this summer and fall during the MidTerm elections can be seen at headCount.org.
