2005's BIG Summer Classic is destined to be remembered as one of the most unique concert tours of the century. Musical cross-pollination and social consciousness ruled the day, as bodies danced and heads were fed. And while the musical collaborations were seldom flawless, each faithfully embodied the undying improvisational spirit of this modern day Magical Mystery Tour.

The latest release from this essential collection of festival-focused DVDs takes us back to the BIG Summer Classic's two-day stop in Schaumburg, Illinois for a two-and-a-half hour sampling of the 2006 Jammy Award winning Tour of the Year. 1st up Umphrey's McGee welcomes Michael Kang, Keller Williams and Jeff Austin to the stage for a crowd-pleasing "Triple Wide" > "Black Water" (with "Stairway to Heaven" tease) as this thoughtfully edited tribute generously spotlights each participating band both alone and with guests. Other collaborations include UM's Brendan Bayliss and Keller Williams with Yonder Mountain String Band, String Cheese Incident's Bill Nershi with Michael Franti & Spearhead, Michael Franti with Keller Williams, Jeff Austin with New Monsoon and The String Cheese Incident with pretty much everybody, as SCI's (not-so) traditional "Rivertrance" gives way to a show-stopping BSC Allstar Ensemble pairing of Michael Franti's "Love Invincible" and The Grateful Dead classic, "Franklin's Tower." And as if that weren't enough, cross-pollinate band interviews, two "BIG Summer Sights" segments and a 13-minute "Umphrey's McCheese" hidden bonus track appropriately round out JamCam's fitting nod to this already legendary cross-country extravaganza. The BIG Summer Classic and all other JamCam Chronicles can be ordered at

Check out Umphrey's McGee w/Michael Kang, Keller Williams & Jeff Austin on "Black Water" Here.

was at these shows, the best ever, then indy and blossom were sweet too. what a tour. im glad to see that some of cheeses magic as playing with others was so openly shared with these bands.. and future shows too... UM+moe., Yonder new years with bela and everyother bluegrass badass, new monsoon and hot buttered, franti and keller, and so on and so on.. more bands need to play with others, it truely makes for a unique and spontaneous occation. this was one thing about phish that i wish they would have done more... santana and george clinton are the only ones i can think of
peace and keep up the guest appearances

Thanks fo chimin' in, y'all. Your support is genuinely appreciated, and we're real excited about this one, too. You see, ideally, as we continue to “chronicle” our travels, our highest hope is that our work might some day occupy an important place in musical history, as a living, breathing, archival artifact of an amazing era that for the most part is going unnoticed by the world at large, and the BIG Summer Classic DVD is an exemplary addition to the time capsule we began to build with our first release back in 2004.

Oh, and sorry these things take a while, spaceface, but please keep in mind we're producing six a year, and this ain't the day job!

Another great DVD by JamCam!!! Thanks for all of the hard work you guys have put into this project. For anyone who hasn't checked out the JamCam Chronicles, do it - great sound and video - lengthy DVD's at a low cost.

Wow! The Jamcam crew really out did themselves yet again! These DVD's were great to start with but they just keep getting better and better. The blackwater linked on here is smokin'! Do yourself a favor and check out some of these DVD's when you get a chance. Well worth it.

the rivertrance is so hot it is worth the price of the DVD alone! i'm very thankful that folks are putting this series out, it gives all those who could not be there to see what each festival is all about and if you WERE there it is just a recap of wonderful memories you can appreciate for years to come...

SAVE JAMCAMDVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The shows were awesome and the DVD captures the spirit of the two days in Schaumburg. If you even think you might like the incredible jams that Jamcamdvd provides, you will and you NEED TO SUBSCRIBE!!! The reason that season three might not happen is because of lack of dollars due to lack of subscriptions. It is hard for me to believe that after two years there are only about 800 subscribers to this amazing video magazine. Like any other magazine it needs subscribers for it to survive. PLEASE CHECK OUT THE WEBSITE AND ORDER YOUR SUBSCRIPTION TODAY!!!!
P.S. I am not connected with Jamcamdvd in any way other than being a loyal subscriber, and I just want to see it keep getting bigger and better. Take care and keep on shakin' them bones!

800 subscribers would actually be GREAT, grateful! Unfortunately, we're only at about 1/4 of that. You're right, though, in that without a helluva lot more good folks like you/the current faithful on the subscriber list and/or a significant sponsorship deal (which we're working on, by the way) we've a tough road ahead. If anybody out there knows any old venture capitalist hippies, please send 'em our way!!! Thank you ALL for such nice comments. Tom (Director, JamCam Chronicles)

Big Summer Classic waz my first official experience into the the deep blue sea of the live jam! I say Kudos for the guys who put together the DVD, it was absoloute magic to see the incredible talent of all the bands and artists who performed that day. I will always treasure that memorie as long as I breathe air!

For the price you can't beat a year long subcription. There may be a couple duds in there, but the great performances far outweigh the bad. Also hidden among these discs are rare and localized gems that one may never get a chance to see live, even if you were at the show that particular weekend.

Keep Jamcam Alive!

$10 for 2-3 hours of music ain't half bad. And who knows, you may see yourself.

you should have seen the lot in richmond ha. it was prob. because that show fell on the first day of ALL GOOD. Cool shows though my only complaint was the no re-entry in their for 7 hours with only one place to get food? my buddy waited in line all through keller's set to get a gyro! I think the G.R.A.B shows with Phil will be the same way 4-11 ish i am betting no re-entry?

I had a great time at the Toronto stop of this tour. One of the best performances from that day was Xaver Rudd, who doesn't seem to be featured at all in this DVD. I don't know if he was there or not, but I would have liked to see some footage that inclded one of his performances.

The Big Summer Classic did one thing for opened my eyes to a new world of sound coming from UM. I was blown away by them and became a fan that wonderful hot Richmond day.....oh, and the hula hoop girls were tops too....I've got to get the DVD, too bad they didn't capture bits and pieces of each city along the way...
