Steel Train kick off a 20-date summer tour in Cleveland, OH June 11th that includes co-headlining dates with Grace Potter, a triumphant return to Bonnaroo, and headlining dates at Chicago's Schuba's, Los Angeles's Knitting Factory and Austin's Stubb's. Since their debut at Bonnaroo one year ago, Steel Train have played over 100 shows and have won fans over with their original blend of funk, soul, bluegrass, Latin, country and rock strengthened with exceptional harmonies and instrumentation. The upcoming shows will see the band performing new material that they have been crafting while on and off the road over the past several months.

The spring of 2006 found this famously eclectic New York-based quintet on the road with bands such as Robert Randolph and The Family Band, North Mississippi Allstars and Dashboard Confessional. Though in love with playing shows to their rapidly growing fan base, Steel Train was eager to get back home and begin work on their next album. "We've been recording in our home studio for about 4 months now. It's been an amazing process, much different than anything we've done in the past." Says songwriter Jack Antonoff. "We're really trying to give our next record a sound. Make something that if someone wanted to know what Steel Train sounded like, we would be proud to give them." With its focus on spontaneity and live performance prowess, Steel Train will allow their new material to develop naturally in a live setting before they head into a studio. "If the songs won't stand up live then no studio can bring them to life. It's a challenge that will make our new material the best stuff we've ever done."

Despite the bands unclassifiable sound, Steel Train's original songs and strong live performance appeals to fans from all over the musical spectrum. Steel Train has performed at Warped Tour, Wakarusa, and SXSW to name a few. raved Steel Train's "short, inspired set of punk-injected folk" at last years Vegoose Music Festival "has all the makings of tomorrow's blogged-about band."

Steel Train will join Radiohead, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Beck, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, Bonnie Raitt, Death Cab For Cutie, My Morning Jacket, Sonic Youth and Clap Your Hand Say Yeah, just to name a few, at this year's Bonnaroo Music Festival.
