Eric Clapton Plans Fall Tour In the U.S.

Eric Clapton
Eric Clapton has announced the first leg of a North American tour slated to kick-off September 16 in Minneapolis and moving on to major markets such as St. Louis, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, Miami and New York, where Slow Hand will play two nights at Madison Square Garden.

Twenty-two dates have been announced, but more shows will likely be added. The Robert Cray Band will open for the U.S. concerts. Clapton is currently on a European tour, concluding a seven-night run at London's Royal Albert Hall on May 26. The tour ends with a show in Moscow's Red Square August 3.

Clapton's current touring band includes guitarist Derek Trucks, and the shows have included old-schools favorites and songs from his 2005 disc, Back Home.

Charlottesville is more of a "major market" than LA or San Francisco? I don't get it. No disrespect to the Wa Hoo's, but gold diggers love the blues too!

Clapton is STILL god! He just has a bunch of disciples now. Pretty psyched to see him in Bostron. Just hope it isn't forty two thousand dollars for a ticket.

Not to be a dick, but learn how to read. The first line of the story says, "the first leg." By that, I would take it as there is more shows to be announced. Lighten up left coast.

TRUCKS IS GOD NOW! i think Derick Trucks stepped it up quite a bit for the next gen. i thought i was sick of the blues...the DTB blew SF to shreds last time they played here. the old-schoolers are going to split down the middle with joy when they hear the kid play.

Easy with the knee-jerk reactions. I expect we will get a 2nd leg Midwest/West Coast schedule of 20-25 dates announced in the near future.

There are no Allman Bros. or Derek Trucks Band dates after Sept. 2nd so it looks like there could be a good chance of him supporting. If he does I'll see ya'll in Birmingham.
