Mike Andrews of The Greyboy Allstars Announces Solo Tour
 Mike Andrews |
Mike Andrews (aka Elgin Park), guitarist and founding member of the Greyboy Allstars will tour this summer in support of his debut solo album Hand On String. Packed in between Greyboy reunion shows and the recording of their new album, the 17-city tour makes stops in Greyboy favorites San Francisco and Chicago but also hits some of the in-betweens like Salt Lake City and Lawrence, Kansas. Outside of the Greyboys, Andrews rarely performs live. Most of the time he can be found locked away in his Glendale, California, home studio, Elgonix Labs. This is his first solo tour.
Those who have heard of Mike Andrews' name (his Greyboy moniker is Elgin Park) associate him with the score music of Donnie Darko, the UK Christmas #1 "Mad World," celebrated TV show Freaks & Geeks and Miranda July's "Me and You and Everyone We Know." He's also credited as a producer, songwriter or composer on more than 20 albums, including those for Metric, Brendan Benson and Gary Jules.
Hand On String, in stores June 27 on Mike's own Elgin Park Recordings is a different kind of funk. It strays musically from The Greyboy Allstars' West Coast jazz, funk and boogaloo. It's deep. It's dark (as in Nick Drake-dark). And it's been a long time since you've heard anyone this passionate about mellow.
Joining Mike and the "Hand On String Band" tour is Los Angeles' psych-folk band Biirdie who support on all dates.
