Months after solidifying yet another eclectic FloydFest line-up of Americana and world grooves, the restless folks at Across-the-Way Productions have given music fans one more reason to make the trek down the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway. For the first time in its five-year history, FloydFest will host a Thursday night Soundcheck, bringing back festival favorites RAILROAD EARTH to celebrate their own fifth birthday with their third FloydFest appearance in a row!

To celebrate this new joint venture, FloydFest has teamed up with Madison House Publicity and Sci Fidelity Records to offer a special promotion to all those most eager fans who get in line first to ride the train. Starting May 1st, the first 100 people who buy a weekend pass directly from the FloydFest office (540 745 FEST) will receive a free copy of Railroad Earth's most recent release, Elko!

Recorded during their Spring 2005 tour and released in January of this year, Elko captures the band on stage where they truly shine. Featuring the remarkable songs of guitarist and vocalist Todd Sheaffer, the album has garnered critical acclaim from magazines as far-ranging as Relix, Rolling Stone, and American Songwriter, and their live show allows them to stretch Sheaffer's songs out into beautiful, complex jams that never cease to amaze listeners.

Bridging the gap between genres, generations, and cultures, FloydFest is an annual three day World Music and Arts Festival nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia. A point of interest on the Virginia Heritage Music Trail, the festival is acclaimed for its eclectic line-up and family-friendly vibe, showcasing World, Bluegrass, Folk, Afrobeat, Old-time, Reggae, Cajun, Americana, Jam, and Folk Genres. From the hottest acts touring today, to those so exclusive you can only experience them at FloydFest, this is a home-town festival with a big industry buzz.

Additional acts in the FloydFest 5 line-up include:
• Los Lobos • Cyro Baptista & Beat The Donkey • Donna The Buffalo • Iris Dement • Eddie From Ohio • Tim O’Brien • Adrienne Young & Little Sadie • Drew Emmitt Band (of Leftover Salmon) • Gabby La La • Jake Shimabukuro • Rhythm Taxi • Avett Brothers • Akoya Afrobeat Enseble • Garaj Mahal • Lamine Tourre & Group Saloum • Toubab Krewe • Balfa Tojours • Campbell Brothers • Charivari • David Bromberg with Angel Band • Rory Block • The Lee Boys • Appalachian Roots with Ira Bernstein & Riley Baugus • Dirk Powell • William Walter & co • Rockridge Brothers • Devon Sproule • Jan Smith • Morwenna Lasko & Jay Pun • Smooth Kentucky • Sun Dried Opossum • Blue Mule • Kat Mills • Scott Perry • Stillwillis • Vulgar Bulgars • Kill Bassa Bill’s Roadshow • Artists from the Crooked Road • and more!
