Listen to Phil Lesh's There And Back Again on JamBase Rhapsody!

Untitled Document Phil Lesh & Friends Added to the 10,000 Lakes Festival
Northern Minnesota Festival Embraces the Jam with Former Grateful Dead Member, Additional Acts; Potential Festival Slots Available to Emerging Artists Via 'Cosmic Break'

Phil Lesh & Friends joins an already jam-packed lineup of artists for a headlining performance at the 4th Annual 10,000 Lakes Festival (10KLF) July 19-22, 2006 at the Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, MN.

The perfect addition to 10KLF's rich musical diversity, former Grateful Dead bassist and his band, Phil Lesh & Friends, perform on the Main Stage Friday, July 21, joining festival headliners Trey Anastasio on July 22 and The String Cheese Incident on July 20.

Drawing from a pool full of talented national, regional, and emerging acts, the 10,000 Lakes Festival seeks to be the nation's premier music and camping festival destination. Enjoying the scene's top performers within the stunning natural beauty of clear lakes and spacious, wooded campgrounds provides all attendees an unparalleled festival experience.

Recent artist additions to the 10,000 Lakes Festival include:
Phil Lesh & Friends
The Everyone Orchestra
Railroad Earth
Garaj Mahal
Shooter Jennings and more

10,000 Lakes Festival's current line-up includes:
Trey Anastasio, The String Cheese Incident, a rare Keller Williams Incident (with String Cheese Incident), O.A.R. (...Of A Revolution), Keller Williams, Umphrey's McGee, Benevento/Russo Duo featuring Mike Gordon, Medeski Martin & Wood, Tea Leaf Green, Big Head Todd & The Monsters, and Hot Buttered Rum.

Additional acts include Great American Taxi featuring Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon, Wood Brothers, WookieFoot, The Big Wu, The Mutaytor, New Primitives, Fat Maw Rooney, Trampled By Turtles, Freshwater Collins, Benzos, Green Lemon, Down Lo, White Iron Band, GypsyFoot, Trampled By Turtles, Backyard Tire Fire, Moses Mayes, Hooch, Unity, and Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank. The full lineup is available at www.10KLF.com.

Independent and unsigned bands now have the opportunity to perform at the festival through the 'Cosmic Break' competition. The 10KLF Cosmic Break Tour showcases emerging artists through a series of regional events during April and May. One band from each city's event moves on to perform at the 10,000 Lakes Festival. Thirteen bands will win a paid performance slot at 10KLF and prize packages, including a potential endorsement from D'Addario Strings and Evans Drumheads. Interested artists may apply and get more information about tour dates, application deadlines, and more at www.CosmicBreakTour.com.

The 10,000 Lakes Festival community comes together once a year to celebrate great music in an enchanting natural setting within a participatory, dynamic festival environment. In 2005, the Minneapolis Star Tribune admired that the 10,000 Lakes Festival was "filled with thousands of good vibes." JamBase.com calls 10KLF "Gold from the North Country." The Star Tribune continues "Even the musicians are impressed by the fest site." Backstage at 10KLF, Jon Bell, singer/guitarist with Widespread Panic told the Tribune "There's room to move and lots of friendliness and not too crazy. It's a very open vibe. You can't create that."

Dotting the spacious festival and campgrounds are 4 stages showcasing the 40+ bands performing on the Barn Stage, a shady hill overlooking the concert bowl, the open air Field Stage, the Saloon Stage for intimate concerts and late night jams, and the Main Stage where everyone gathers in the evening for the headliners' concerts featuring Trey Anastasio, The String Cheese Incident and more. The 10KLF website shows an interactive flash map detailing the view from each stage and each campground.

Like KeepItSimple said, "Trey and Phil?" Through in Gordo and Sir Medeski? Hey, why not? Most likely Phil will stick with the boring no names, but it would be nice to bring a little flash and dash to the midwest considering most probably couldn't make it to NY for the Beacon Blizzard run.

For those who go - have fun and be safe!

What is going to be in the mix? Phil and Trey, Phil with Kyle from SCI, Michael Kang for a song or two, or the introduction of Phil and Keller. Well, we will have to wait and see. I called the Phil and friends for the last slot though. See you there.....

Damn! What a lineup... I wish I could go. Why does it say FORMER Dead member? I mean I know they're not called the Grateful Dead anymore, but c'mon. They're still the same band, without Pigpen and Jerry, why say he is a former member, if he is still a member. Unless of course, The Dead is Dead and none of us have heard...

I think that 10k has the fattest line-up around this year.
Cheese, Phil Lesh, Umphrey's, and Railroad Earth.
