    3) Gnarls Barkley! (Cee-Lo + Danger Mouse = CRAZY DELICIOUS!)
    4) What? No camping?
    5) Best 2006 fest line-up so far - no fluff here.

They're commin' round... looks like they're following a new business model. Flaming Lips, Ween, Queens of the Stone Age, Umphrey's McGee, Sonic Youth, Nickel Creek, Reverend Horton Heat, Benevento-Russo Duo...Looks like someone's been looking on someone else's paper on this one. Kudos for the remodel. Keep those prices low, keeps people coming out. Gas alone, my god...

You can look at this one two ways:
The true jam-scene sell outs fr money have confirmed their status on a bill with Kayne West and other indie money freaks
This is a blending of genres that could produce some new fans and some pretty dope music for a somewhat resonable price

Either way, I don't see 8 stages happening very well (sound run-off)! Good luck!

Red Hot Chili Peppers, Flaming Lips, Sleater Kinney, Sonic Youth, Secret Machines, Queens of the Stone Age, ARE worth the $130 bucks alone (plues three days in the midwest, stop bitchin' and start rejoicing!)

If there were camping at this festival I would be there in a second. The cost of the ticket is soooo small compared to how much money will be spent on hotel, food, and boos in the city. And ya'll are forgetting how amazing it is that they got Manu Chao to sign on to this festival. He never comes to the U.S.

Everyone is forgetting the Chi-town reps Kanye and Common, as well as Wilco!! They'll probably have a couple of late nights at the HOB and other small venues around the city like last year. Hey when coming to the city starting April 1 and continuing all summer the Dan Ryan (I 90/94) is under construction this will cause major traffic issues. Look for hotels outside of the city, close to the Metra and other mass transit. The CTA is also a good option. This is going to be friggin huge using all of grant park it'll be a blast!! Be safe and see everyone in Aug!!

When we attended last year, we noticed that a large number of attendees were Chicagoans like us (who don't need "camping"). We're going this year because of the quantity of the bands; the ability to see so many bands in short succession. Some of the biggest bands last year, like Primus, were the last ones to be added, and it will probably happen again. Hopefully, Farrell will play on the kids stage again.
We are also considering going to both Intonation and Pitchfork, the extra $40 won't make or break us.

Kanye West lame? The guy's live show includes the backing of a high school marching band. If that's not jamming or unique collaboration to you, then I don't know what is. Some of these bands that aren't as huge in the jamband scene write amazing music that would be appreciated by all. Ok, so Kanye will never play a 20minute Gold Digger->cities->bowie->Gold Digger... but appreciate it for what it is - incredibly thoughtful, hook-driven tunes, that make you want to get up on your feet and dance. Isn't that what good music should be all about?

For my money...i thought about Coachella...and sure I would love to see Madonna and Daft Punk. But this will be key...I love stayin in a hotel...party all night and then rack in a premade bed...go out all day and then stumble back again...I can not wait...staying at the congress.

Apparently Built to Spill has been added to the bill, although it's not on pollstar or the lolla site yet. Other bands that are touring this spring will probably wait until the spring tours are over before being announced as additions to the lineup in order not to ruin their own ticket sales. Even though we live in Chicago, we are using a comp for one of the three nights of Lolla, and we'll be staying at the W; I bet many of the Lolla acts will be hanging there.

Why has my beautiful perfect jam scene been reduced to the likes of Queens of the Stoneage and Sonic Youth??

Someone please start ANOTHER movement cause this one has become what we all knew it would... the anti-jam. WHOS WITH ME??

Well, I was right. Built to Spill is now listed on the Lollapalooza site as being added. Also added are another local Chicago act and the first kid stage act.

"so whats the word on late night?"

Lollapalooza closes down about 10:00 p.m. There probably will be after shows at House of Blues and Schubas. But Chicago's a big city. I'm sure you can find a place to drink until 4:00 a.m. or 5:00 a.m. on Saturday night.
