On Friday February 24th, Particle returns to the stage with a new lineup, fresh material, and a renewed purpose at The Fonda in Hollywood. Dubbed "Transformations'," the show will be filmed for a DVD to be released this summer by Shout! Factory/Sony. While the new lineup remains a mystery, the band has unveiled its list of special guests for the evening.
 Particle with Robby Krieger |
Particle will welcome some new friends and old to The Fonda on February 24th. Longtime friend and collaborator DJ Logic will open the show with a full set and sit-in with the band later in the evening. Logic befriended Particle back in 2001, and has toured with the band and collaborated with them extensively over the past three years. This will be DJ Logic's first appearance with Particle in Los Angeles since their famed Fais a Do Do performance back in 2001.
Two legendary guitar players will also be on hand to join in the fun that evening. Robby Krieger of The Doors, who collaborated with Particle a few years back is excited to join them onstage again for some jamming. In their last performance together, Robby stepped in for Particle's "Cyclops Suzy" and a bone chilling rendition of "Light My Fire" that also included an "Eleanor Rigby" jam.
 Joe Satriani |
One of the evenings most anticipated guests is Joe Satriani who is recognized as one of the most technically proficient guitarists in the world. Although this is the first time he'll appear with Particle, he has jammed with some of the world's best players including Steve Vai, Slash, and Les Paul
Nodding to Particle's electronic and urban offerings, the band has confirmed Blackalicious to appear at The Fonda as well. The alternative hip-hop duo consisting of Gift of Gab and Chief Xcel formed in the early 1990s, in Northern California. They have achieved international notoriety having appeared at events including Bonnaroo and Coachella. This is their first appearance with Particle, however they have collaborated with scene stalwarts such as DJ Shadow and Lyrics Born in the past.
In addition, The Fonda will be transformed by LA Curators "The Do Lab", who will provide amazing décor and vibes throughout the venue. The evening's festivities begin at 8 p.m. and DJ Logic plays at 8:30 before two long sets of Particle. Since this show will be filmed for Particle's debut DVD, we are encouraging the Particle People to wear their funkiest garb!
