On Friday February 24th, Particle returns to the stage with a new lineup, fresh material, and a renewed purpose at The Fonda in Hollywood. Dubbed "Transformations'," the show will be filmed for a DVD to be released this summer by Shout! Factory/Sony. While the new lineup remains a mystery, the band has unveiled its list of special guests for the evening.

Particle with Robby Krieger
Particle will welcome some new friends and old to The Fonda on February 24th. Longtime friend and collaborator DJ Logic will open the show with a full set and sit-in with the band later in the evening. Logic befriended Particle back in 2001, and has toured with the band and collaborated with them extensively over the past three years. This will be DJ Logic's first appearance with Particle in Los Angeles since their famed Fais a Do Do performance back in 2001.

Two legendary guitar players will also be on hand to join in the fun that evening. Robby Krieger of The Doors, who collaborated with Particle a few years back is excited to join them onstage again for some jamming. In their last performance together, Robby stepped in for Particle's "Cyclops Suzy" and a bone chilling rendition of "Light My Fire" that also included an "Eleanor Rigby" jam.

Joe Satriani
One of the evenings most anticipated guests is Joe Satriani who is recognized as one of the most technically proficient guitarists in the world. Although this is the first time he'll appear with Particle, he has jammed with some of the world's best players including Steve Vai, Slash, and Les Paul

Nodding to Particle's electronic and urban offerings, the band has confirmed Blackalicious to appear at The Fonda as well. The alternative hip-hop duo consisting of Gift of Gab and Chief Xcel formed in the early 1990s, in Northern California. They have achieved international notoriety having appeared at events including Bonnaroo and Coachella. This is their first appearance with Particle, however they have collaborated with scene stalwarts such as DJ Shadow and Lyrics Born in the past.

In addition, The Fonda will be transformed by LA Curators "The Do Lab", who will provide amazing d├ęcor and vibes throughout the venue. The evening's festivities begin at 8 p.m. and DJ Logic plays at 8:30 before two long sets of Particle. Since this show will be filmed for Particle's debut DVD, we are encouraging the Particle People to wear their funkiest garb!

Particle fell off.. in my opinion this is a kinda sketchy recovery. Why do they need so many other acts? I think to surround the doubt that this band really can survive the roughest of roads. If they come back and sound good mad props. But i just don't know seems weird.

Particle is going to seriously miss Charlie Hitchcock. I saw him perform with Banyan in Denver two weeks ago and the guy is just amazing!

But I will still go see them.....Steve is fun to watch pound the boards.

i don't understand. particle is just an OK band, at best. how the heck did they get these big names to play with them?

Satriani... thats gonna be totally insane. I think Particle was just okay, always felt they were incomplete as a band. Killer grooves and great texture from Steve M, but add Joe Satriani and its going to be a ride on a rocketship to god know where.

Joe Satriani is a soul-less wanker. He is a showoff and a tool. Technically he is good but techniue is worthless if you play with no soul whatsoever. Krieger on the other hand.... that may be okay.

sounds great...but considering i cant picture how particle would sound without charlies guitar....who knows. dont they want a practice tour or something? this could be great or really bad news....karma can be a bitch...

Satriani will be able to add super technical riffs and lead guitar to a band that plays very technoish sounding tunes in an over the top sonic overload type style... sounds to me like Satriani is right up their alley. I woulodnt bring the man out to play Funk or Soul but, hey, particle isnt playing either one (granted there is some funk groove in what they do... but it aint no tasty James Brown). Personally I think the best match to particle would be someone like Jeff Beck who currently has a heavy leaning toward electronic music. Robby, on the other hand... I dont know what to expect from him when combined with that type of music, should be interesting to say the least.

Particle is still a pretty young band, and with youth, comes room to grow and tighten. That's what all you nay sayers are missing. This band is ridiculously talented and shows so much promise while pioneering their own music. There's your answer to why people like Mickey Hart and this current line up are playing with them. I can't wait to hear this throw down!
