Lollapalooza :: Chicago's Grant Park
3 Day Fest :: August 4 - 6

Lollapalooza event organizers, Capitol Sports & Entertainment, have confirmed that the festival will return to Chicago's Grant Park for three days in 2006. Not only is the event growing in length (from two to three days), but also in size with eight stages and more than 130 acts.

While dates and location are set, artists and ticket information is not expected to surface for about a month. But what fun would festival announcements be without some speculation. The most talked about rumor (both for Lollapalooza and other festivals coming this summer) has revolved around Chicago's own Smashing Pumpkins. Other names that are being thrown around include The Flaming Lips, The Disco Biscuits and Thievery Corporation. Be sure to check back soon for updates and artists announcements.

bisco would be nice. i'd love a little moe. pumpkins are done (they'd need an all original lineup to sell me... not likely to last). radiohead + lips + perry = fabulous times. i would love to see more jammin'.

in regards to the first comment posted on this site...lets cry alittle bit cause people who dont smoke pot and arent hippies know about bonnaroo so we cant go..its to commerical.bull..its still good music. and to say radiohead is inferior to the pumpkins is ridiculous..i'll be at the sp shows but honestly...radiohead is far superior

I'd think Smashing Pumpkins would be great. also add Umphrey's
and throw in a Guns&Roses reunion

someone please explain why they feel the need to put Umphrees McGee and Moe and the Disco Biscuits at Lollapalooza? These bands will ruin this festival. This festival is supposed to be providing an alternative to the same old "jam-band" festival line-ups!!! what a shame!

for all of you hwo are hatin on bands like umphrey's and bisco just b/c they have the "jamband" label, yall sound like close-minded morons. i wouldn't even classify umphrey's as a "jamband." they straight up rock out in addition to being one of the most talented group of musicians i have ever heard. if you don't dig their music, you can at least still respect the quality of their musicianship; and you can venture off to a stage that suits you more. sayin that they will "ruin the festival" is just plain stupid. it's people like you who create these false images about bands and inaccurately portray them to other people, so they won't go check out new music either. isn't the point of a music festival to be able to explore music that you wouldn't otherwise see while still catching your favorite bands in the meantime? i implore all the close-minded people to if not broaden your musical horizon by going to check out new bands (i know this is a lot to ask), at least not hate on music by giving it a false pretense which will limit others from experiencing what they might actually enjoy. i mean come on, we all here for the music, or should be at least.

I would love to see Jane's Addiction there, since this is their fest. IMO if you want to see a band that truely ROCKS The Breakfast should be playing there. Those guys are unbelievable musicians and really cool guys. I know I'd go to Chi Town if they were there, but I'll probably go anyway. HaHa

gotta agree with atouja. umphreys may apppeal to jamheads but they aren't really jam band. they got something different than the rest and they do rock!

If your gonna have Lolla, it has to be traveling! That is what separated this tour from all the others when it first came out in '91!! It's also why it's one of the best festivals of all time! But, I understand why it's not traveling because it would collapse because of low ticket sales, just like in '04! Basically, they should have stopped Lolla a long time ago, like 10 years ago. Leave it in the 90's! I did go to Lolla '03 and got to see Jane's for like the 5th time which was insane. Well, Jane's minus Eric Avery. Plus got to see Queens of the Stone Age and Audioslave. But I would have been happy if they just stopped in the 90's. Start another festival and call it something, your ruining the Lollapalooza legacy!

I have seen both bands that I have referred to numerous times... and I think that they both would agree with the "jamband" stereotype... I never said they weren't talented, I just stated that they are not in the spirit of Lollapalooza!!! Just wondering when Umphree's became a "non-jamband"... I must have missed that issue from Relix magazine or the news from Jambase!!!
