Sweltering Southern Rock Hits The Rockies
A Southern heat wave is predicted for Colorado in February as Georgia based Outformation and Tishamingo team up with Denver's own Polytoxic for a tour across the state, bringing with them sweltering Southern Rock that is sure to warm any music lover.
Outformation, led by Sam Holt (who doubles as Widespread Panic's guitar tech), gives audiences a full, soulful, southern rock sound. Holt's in-your-face driving guitar, Grady Upchurch's thumping bass lines, and Lee Schwartz's solid drumming combined with honest songwriting make Outformation a must-see band. Add to this their rotating cast of stellar musicians to round out their sound, and you have the next big band in Southern Rock.
Also hailing from Georgia is Athens-based Tishamingo. From their original arrangements to the popular covers they spin with the Tishamingo twist, the four members of the band create a musical fusion of old-school Southern Rock, blues, and modern rock-and-roll topped with a splash of funk.
Joining Outformation and Tishamingo, and bringing a bit of local flavor to the table is Westword Music Showcase "Best Jam/Improv Band" award winner, Polytoxic. The driving rhythm of Chad 'Chadzilla' Johnson's drums, combined with the rolling intricacies of CR Gruver's simultaneous keys and bass added to the growl of Tori Pater's vocals command the attention of their audience and bring them to the dance floor without fail.
Together, these three bands are part of a new generation of south-infused rockers. With their constant touring and intoxicating live performances Outformation, Tishamingo, and Polytoxic are sure to warm up dance floors all over Colorado. While these bands will share dates throughout February, they will be touring independently, bringing the Southern Heat to the Colorado Rockies.
