Before heading to Atlanta for Widespread Panic's New Years Eve party, print out your copy of the DRIVIN' flyer, the Panic parking lot newspaper produced by the folks at An Honest Tune. There's a whole lot of music celebrating the New Year in Atlanta this year, much of it revolving around the 20,000 capacity, sold-out Panic shows at Phillips Arena. With this much music, you're going to want your DRIVIN' flyer for a reminder of what's going on all weekend.

The weekend gets started with Col. Bruce Hampton & The Code Talkers at the Brandy House on Thursday and Friday, December 28 & 29. Early birds will be rewarded with an afternoon party at 3pm on Saturday, December 30 sponsored by An Honest Tune, Panic Fans For Food, and the Spreadnet at Smith's Olde Bar. Bring canned foods for donation. After Panic on Saturday, head down to the Variety Playhouse where the Kudzu Kings and Blueground Undergrass take the stage at 12:30am. Bloodkin is holding their CD Release Party that night at Smith's Olde Bar and Melodious Ground is at the Somber Reptile with a free show for anyone who wants more after Panic.

People, don't sleep in the daytime. On New Years Eve, get yourself over to the Underground to see the Iratowns with the Atlanta Rhythm Section at 2pm. Besides the obvious going on at the Phillips Arena, there's more to check out in Atlanta in the evening and late night. Gregg Allman & Friends are at the Tabernacle. Bring your stub to The Cotton Club, and get in free to see Freak the Jones and Planet Jam who will get started at around midnight. Ancient Harmony and the North Mississippi All Stars are performing at the Variety Playhouse where they will toast in the new year. Looks like Atlanta won't be getting much sleep on this New Years Eve!
