Whether it's straight jazz or deep funk, drummer Mike Clark has done it all. Want Actual Proof? Clark's brilliance has been demonstrated in his studio work on that album, and he sure gave some on Give the Drummer Some. He is best known for being an integral part of Herbie Hancock's legendary Headhunters in the 1970's. His unique blend of funk and soul on the skins has made Mike Clark one of the most prominent, and most sampled, drummers of our time.
This spring, Mike Clark is getting some serious heavyweights together for a tour that is sure to blow up this whole nation, starting with the east coast. The all-star band that makes up Mike Clark's Prescription Renewal Tour includes Charlie Hunter on 8-string guitar, Robert Walter (his 20th Congress, Greyboy All-Stars) on keys, Skerik (Galactic, Les Claypool's
Frog Brigade, Critters Buggin') on saxophonics, and DJ Logic on turntables. WOW!
The tour kicks off with two nights at New York's Bowery Ballroom on March 1 & 2. From there, the Prescription fills up the Boston area with a show at Lilli's and then down the coast for stops at the Trocadero, 9:30 Club in D.C., Stella Blue in Asheville, the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, the House of Blues in NOLA, and then to Jack Legs in Nashville. Enter the midwest. The Park West gets a Silver Wrapper in Chicago, followed by the Magic Bag in Detroit, and ending the tour Canadian with The Comfort Zone in Toronto as well as another stop in Montreal.
