What follows is a New Year's Eve Announcement from our friends at Madison House.

For more NYE shows across the country please click Here.

Part storytellers and part musicians, JJ Grey and Daryl Hance emerge from North Florida's Blackwater region as MOFRO, serving up sticky, soulful swamp stories of the not-so-typical oral tradition. MOFRO has single handedly made Redneck "chic," exposing the label's more appealing, and often overlooked, attributes; humble, grounded, connected, and oh so soulful. This annual new year's event is always a treat for Jacksonville locals. MOFRO looks forward to bringing in the new year in the city that they love.

Umphrey's McGee
Umphrey's McGee's relentlessly inventive music has garnered them attention as one of today's hottest young acts. The band's second DVD release, Wrapped Around Chicago: New Year's at the Riv, was recorded in their hometown on December 30 and 31, 2004 at the Riviera Theatre. The two disc set, which hit streets on October 18, 2005 (SCI Fidelity), offers almost four hours of performance and b-roll footage that captures just what the buzz is all about. Umphrey's McGee will celebrate another great year on the road by rocking Chicago into next year. This time at Chicago's Aragon Ballroom.

One man band Keller Williams will open the shows. Using innovative looping technology and innate musical genius, Keller's live solo performances pack more music on one stage than a full fledge rock ensemble might.

After hearing that they played till almost 6am in Vegoose, I think the 3 night/3 venue "PL&F NYE" WILL BE THE PLACE TO BE...plus the fact that Herring and the Headband Bro's (Barraco and Sless) will be there is enough to make me forget that Mayer is opening up, I hope.

PS. And if you don't get a ticket to PLF or Cheese or Claypool or you just don't like any of them and you're in San Fran, than go see Tea Leaf Green!!!

Is SCI trying to follow Xingolati now? SCI is grabbing for straws. And who in gods name needs 4 nights of Kimock tuning his guitar eeeesh. Sorry for the negativity folks but Jam was built on breaking ground and exploring new territories....and its the fans that need to keep pushing them there.

Phil without Chris or Warren....I think not. Keller with Chitty Mcgee......no way. Who wants to disco the NYE away to the SAME beat and mindless noise....not me. Real music fans WILL be in Jacksonville for some Mofro soul, or in the big city for MULE and THE CROWES!

moe. in Ashville looks to be a good time as well, but San Fran seems to be the place to be, as there are countless good shows to catch, each offering a little of this but more of that.

Hey Folks,

Ever heard of "is" ? Check 'em out at www.whatitis.biz. They're 3-piece (keyboards, bass, and drums). They'll be doing 2 shows on 12/30, and 12/31 in New Paltz, NY for alot less $ than all of these other bands. If you like Phish, Hornsby, Yes, Dead, etc. you'll have a blast seeing these guys. Great songs, sick jams!

Havent we all become a whiny bunch of music snobs???NYE is gonna kick ass all over america!! Whether your south north east or west! Embrace this music world as a whole for a change...I mean, who else is raging as hard as all of us are on NYE?
Im so super stoked about SCI playing SF again. Its just a great fit. Ive seen members of SCI play music at Burning Man, so the connection of both worlds will be one for the books...west coast freaky and free...maybe thats not your cup of tea, but hell, its still goning to be a great melding of artists: Anon, Peak, and SCI. For the first time in 2 years, the Bay is really chock full of goodies this NYE. Im sure Tea Leaf Green will stun folks, too. Oh and dont forget Hot Buttered Rum String Band in Mill Valley! Too much good stuff...arent we all so lucky.

Tishamingo in Charleston and Panic in the ATL do look too bad either, but those are my three favorite bands on the planet so i'm not biased a bit.
