In the dawn of the new year, we find a nationwide tour of "galactic" dimensions. Music that will take us higher- a conglomeration of talents beyond our imaginations.
The SnoCore Icicle Ball featuring Galactic and Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, with Lake Trout and/or Drums and Tuba will invade our country in early 2001.
Starting out in the sinful Las Vegas, of all places, the three bands take over The Joint on January 17. A trek through the Northwest is next on the list from January 18 - 23 with stops at The Palace in L.A., Santa Cruz Civic, Municiple Auditorium in Eureka, CA, the Paramount Theatre in Seattle and the Roseland Theatre in Portland. And what is a winter icicle ball without an expedition through the Rockies? This Fearless tour will leave Colorado breathless at the Fox Theater in Boulder on January 25, Dobson Arena in Vail on the 26th and The Fillmore in Denver on the 27th.
It makes sense to bring Icicles to the Midwest at the end of January, ringing in February in chilly style. From January 29 to February 4, the tour hits the Uptown Theatre in Kansas City, the Pageant Theater in St. Louis, The Quest in Minneapolis, the Riviera Theatre in Chicago, Newport Music Hall in Columbus, and the State Theater in Detroit. Lake Trout says goodbye at this point in the journey and the SnoCore Icicle Ball is joined by Drums and Tuba. Drums and Tuba, a band originally from Austin, TX, now from NY is more than just Tuba... they also have drums...and some other instruments. Their funky yet spacey sound is welcomed to the tour with shows at the Agora Theatre in Cleveland on February 6, the Metropol in Pittsburgh on the 7th, Harro's East in Rochester on the 9th and the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse on the 10th.
On February 11, the SnoCore Icicle Ball begins its descent down the East Coast starting at the State Theatre in Portland, ME and continuing in New England at the Memorial Auditorium in Burlington on the 12th and the Avalon in Boston on Valentines Day. The weekend of February 15 - 17 is going to be huge for everyone involved with stops at the Nation in D.C., the Roseland Ballroom in NY, and the Electric Factory in Philly.
In the search for sunny skies in the twilight of this run on our nation, the SnoCore Icicle Ball finds somewhere to melt as they head southbound. The fine people of Norfolk, VA will welcome the Ball on February 19 at the Boathouse followed by shows at the House of Blues in both Orlando, FL on the 21st and Myrtle Beach, SC on the 22nd, and the Tabernacle in Atlanta on the 23rd. Galactic is then escorted home with a final blowout event at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans.
Do not, repeat, do not miss the chance to catch this Icicle Ball while its hot (huh??). This fusion of musical talent and the disparity of style and sound will leave jaws dropped and legs tired from coast to coast.
