CONSCIOUS ALLIANCE RAMPS UP COLLECTION EFFORTS FOR GULF REGION
Since its inception three years ago, Boulder-based not-for-profit Conscious Alliance has collected and donated over 300,000 lbs. of food to local U.S. food banks and to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
This fall Conscious Alliance welcomes their busiest season yet - hosting food drives at music events throughout the country, including all fall tour dates for The String Cheese Incident and Sound Tribe Sector 9. Conscious Alliance will also be at Vegoose, October 29-30 in Las Vegas. All items collected this season will go toward the U.S. hurricane relief effort. Also this season, the Mimi Fishman Foundation is hosting an online auction to benefit Conscious Alliance - visit www.mimifishman.org to bid on a variety of rock art and signed memorabilia - all for a good cause.
In its home state of Colorado, Conscious Alliance recently hosted food drives at all four Dave Matthews Band Red Rocks shows, including their September 12 benefit concert. Conscious Alliance collected over 30,000 lbs of food and over $7,000 in donation money. A filled semi truck left for Houston on September 13, to be donated to the Houston Food Bank and its efforts to feed people affected by Hurricane Katrina (www.HoustonFoodbank.org).
Next month, Conscious Alliance will complete a three year project, putting the finishing touches on a brand new storage facility and food distribution center on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. The reservation, which before had no such resource, will use the facility to help feed over 100 families each month.
