ABOUT THE BANDS:
Shanti Groove, an up and coming "newgrass" phenomenon combines the traditional
sound of bluegrass instruments with a little bit of funk, a little bit of jam,
and a whole lot of improvisation. Their sound hangs on the ledge between electric
and acoustic and often intermingles the two in a way only they have mastered.
Shanti Groove's string-driven repertoire covers a little bit of everything- from traditional bluegrass to original compositions with even a few Grateful Dead covers in the mix. They don't stop there, however; Shanti Groove brings in a myriad of effects- both musically and visually- taking their performance to new heights.
Named as one of JamBase's "12 Artists to Watch in 2004," Shanti Groove takes the down-home, back porch bluegrass tradition to a new level with a performance that keeps the audience in a dancing frenzy. No matter where they play, whether in South Carolina or Alaska, they keep the audience in the palm of their hand with a hands-on, involved live music experience.
Moonshine Still has garnered a large grassroots following with their
unparalleled live performances - propelled by seamless jams with stunning interplay,
and soulful vocals. Their music harkens the spirit of Macon's great musicians,
and Georgia's churches.
Moonshine Still takes audiences on a musical journey that incorporates elements of electronica, funk, folk, jazz, jam, reggae and rock. Moonshine Still's driven and distinctly layered sound induces frenzied dancing at the shows, and widespread Internet trading afterwards. The band appeals not only to the audiences' sense of sound but also on the audiences' sense of sight, powered by PDA (www.pdalightingandsound.com), Moonshine Still brings an elite light show to venues across America, from New York to California and all points in between. The band provides the most complete concert experience for all music lovers.
Nominated for a Jammy Award in 2004 and currently listed as one of JamBase.com's "Bands To See Live In 2005," Moonshine Still carries on the legacy of many great musicians, from Otis Redding to Allman Brothers Band, who called Macon, GA home.
Shanti Groove and Moonshine Still represent two similar, but distinct genres of music - and they each are known for high-energy performances - making this an ideal New Year's weekend for fans of electrifying, eclectic music.
