"A virtuoso of acoustic upright double bass, James Whiton slaps, bows, maneuvers, and
manipulates his instrument with orchestral precision and street-corner
desperation." -San Francisco Weekly, 8-ll-O4
"This is some of the most unique music being played today... a soft hybrid of tone,
reverberation and depth. Trumpet player John Fricke hits notes that are
both soul piercing and emotive... he creates sounds that seem to emanate from the night
sky." -Northwest Jazz Profile 01-05
James Whiton & The Downtown Apostles just finished their debut CD, The Way Your

Somethingfour is a four piece instrumental band from the San Francisco Bay Area. Fusing
original composed music and improvised sounds while blending in influences of
jazz and experimental rock. Recently coming off a smoking show with special guest bassist
Kai Eckhardt sitting in on a tune, they have quickly developed into a tight knit unit
bringing a refreshing new sound to The Bay Area music scene. Check out
Somethingfour's website for Mp3's and more about them.
