Over the past two months, hundreds of independent bands sent in music submissions
for the 2005 10KLF Cosmic Break Competition to be one of the
lucky bands to land a festival performance slot. Thirty bands were selected
out of the qualified entries and six winners were chosen. The festival organizers
found it too difficult for its panel of industry professionals to pick only
three Cosmic Break bands, so the field was expanded to include six bands that
receive a performance slot. The selections were based on musicianship, participation
in the contest, email responses from fans, and the recent Voting Booth results.
The winners of the 2005 10KLF Cosmic Break Competition include
(in no particular order):
Madahoochi
Holy Moses and the High
Rollers
Cosmic Kibosh
Smokin’ Bandits
56 Hope Road
Roadside Zoo
Covert Operations
Cosmic Break winners and all other bands at 10KLF will perform on four stages,
including the Barn Stage on a shady hill overlooking the concert bowl, the Field
Stage where the audience can spread out and soak up some sun, the Saloon Stage
for intimate concerts and late night jams, and the Main Stage where everyone
gathers in the evening for the major concerts featuring Widespread Panic and
Trey Anastasio.
Single-day tickets are available starting at $40, multi-day tickets starting
at $75 and VIP packages are available
now through the festival website. Tickets will also be available at the gate.
The event ticket price includes all band performances and camping under the
stars adjacent to the most beautiful outdoor concert venue in the nation. The
10,000 Lakes Festival held at the 600-acre Soo Pass Ranch in beautiful Northern
Minnesota contains numerous campgrounds, built specifically for people to enjoy
their camping experience in a spacious, friendly and comfortable setting.
Festival-goers can relax in beautiful Lake Sallie Campground with over 3,000
feet of shoreline or settle into the magnificent forest of the Northwoods campground.
VIP Camping is located directly behind the Main Stage. The campgrounds are well
groomed with permanent roads and real showers and are suitable for virtually
any kind of camping vehicle. Every campground is within easy walking distance
of the concert site.

food and beverages will be available.
The Conscious Alliance and 10,000 Lakes Festival are proud to announce the 1st
Annual 10KLF Food Drive to benefit the White Earth Indian Reservation
of Minnesota. While supplies last, patrons that donate 10 or more non-perishable
food items will receive a free 10KLF poster designed by renowned Widespread
Panic artist Jeff Wood of Drowning
Creek Studio. Donation bins will be located outside of each main entrance
to the festival grounds. These locations will also be marked on the festival
guide map.
In addition to the canned food drive, the 10,000 Lakes Festival will contribute
a portion of each ticket sold to benefit the Rex
Foundation, a non-profit, charitable organization established in 1983 by
friends and members of the Grateful Dead. The Rex Foundation proactively provides
extensive community support to creative endeavors in the arts, sciences, and
education and has furnished over $7 million in grants to hundreds of organizations
