Today on, Phil Lesh posted, "I am very pleased to announce that a dear, old friend will be joining me on stage in Denver. I have played hundreds of shows with this friend, and am thrilled that he will be once again be on the road with me.

Phil Lesh by Casey Flanigan
"Wolf" was Jerry Garcia's main guitar during the 70's. He played with us during one of the most exciting and musically explosive periods in Grateful Dead history, and always had a special place in Jerry's heart. In a classic Jerry move, he willed his Irwin guitars to their maker, luthier Doug Irwin. Doug received two of the five guitars - Tiger and Wolf. He sold them at auction in 2002 to help pay medical expenses that he incurred after a serious bike accident. I am honored and humbled to announce that the current owner of Wolf has donated my old friend to Unbroken Chain Foundation for the purpose of raising funds for worthy causes. We are therefore establishing a new link in the Unbroken Chain- the Wolf Link. Due to our donor's vision, one that I feel sure Jerry would proudly endorse, Wolf will be available for raising funds and making music for years to come. I recently had the opportunity to hold and play Wolf - a spine-tingling experience, as I truly felt Jerry in the guitar. We will be looking for many ways to share Wolf with the Grateful Dead community. Wolf's first appearance will be onstage with my band at the Denver Fillmore and at Red Rocks. The first fundraiser will also happen in Colorado. We will auction the opportunity to play a song, on Wolf, with my band and me at a very special party. There will also be two lucky people chosen on the basis of their talent to join the party on a Wolf Scholarship.

I feel blessed to be able to honor Jerry in this way and see Wolf help better the world that Jerry has transcended." - Phil
