* with Robert Walters’ 20th Congress

Karl Denson and his Tiny Universe took the spaceship out Saturday night at the Fox Theater in Boulder for another tour of the funk/soul/jazz galaxies . With Robert Walters 20th Congress starting the evening at 9:15pm, we didn’t arrive back on Earth until after 3:00am. Karl used this three-night stand at the Fox to record his band for an upcoming live CD (tentatively titled Live at the Foxy). For this reason, audience taping was prohibited. The setlist speaks for itself. The band was very tight and right, and the addition of a percussion player and backup vocalists made the band even fuller. Karl definitely has his own agenda for funkin it up and nothing will stand in his way (not even handmade “Use Me” signs which were placed on the stage as a request from the audience).
