Smilefest, set to take place Memorial Day Weekend, May 27 - 29 will feature over 25 world-class musical acts, presented on two stages, as well as a robust Kids' Universe, diverse culinary offerings, a wide array of high-quality vendor merchandise, two beautiful swimming ponds, scenic hiking and biking trails, and free parking and rustic camping. This year will also see the return of Smilefest's Festi-VOL Village, an interactive exhibit area where attendees will be introduced to worthy non-profit groups they can serve in their own communities once they return home.
This year's event, the start of Smilefest's second decade of "peace, love and music in the Carolina sunshine," will also provide a fresh move to the mountains. Event director Bob Robertson explains, "Our first ten years were terrific, and our old venue served us well, but things get a little hot in the lowlands during the summer. So we chose to throw our party a little earlier this year, and move it to a literally cooler place that we're sure everyone is just going to fall in love with. The fans are going to be thrilled once they get here."
Deerfields - The New Home of Smilefest
Robertson points out that while the festival's change in venue has created a more comfortable, intimate and remote setting, it has also led to a reduction in the number of available tickets. "There's only enough room for 3000 people this year. Deerfields is an absolutely gorgeous setting for us but, unfortunately, we're going to have to turn away some folks who have historically bought tickets at the gate."
To encourage earlier ticket purchases, and to promote live music outside its festival gates, Smilefest has again partnered with several premier North Carolina entertainment venues to re-launch its highly successful "Free Admission Night" series. Through this program, attendees of selected pre-festival club appearances by Smilefest acts, who choose to purchase a full-weekend ticket on-site, will receive an immediate refund of that night's cover charge.
The full "Free Admission Night" schedule, as well as information regarding standard ticketing, artists, camping (tent, vehicle and RV), parking, and helpful hints, is available on-line at www.smilefest.com. Festival tickets purchased before May 2nd will be priced at $75. After that date, any remaining tickets sold on-line or at the gate will cost $90.
