Kimock and Holmes by Tony Stack
Steve Kimock Productions and McMenamins' Crystal Ballroom presents a New Years Celebration filled with music, art and visual innovation. The Crystal Ball will feature musical guests Flowmotion from Seattle, and world-famous strolling performers from the Oregon Country Fair. This special one-night appearance will highlight two complete sets of SKB along with a full array of music, drums, fire dancing, living art, and a brilliant New Year's light parade.

The Steve Kimock Band is renowned for their live musical soundscapes and their ability to lead listeners on a journey using powerful overtures and inspiring melodies in an instrumental setting. Recently featured as the "Guitar Monk" by Relix magazine, Steve Kimock has mastered a crystal clear tone and unique jazz-rock approach.

Kimock blends effortlessly with 13-time Grammy Award-winning drummer Rodney Holmes and is balanced perfectly by the edgier textures of Mitch Stein on "more guitar" and the bouncy, deep rhythms of Leo Traversa on bass. Together they create a kaleidoscope of innovative compositions and dazzling improvisations that range from the rush of exploratory fusion and funk to the roar of psychedelic rock to the whisper of a ballad so haunting and sweet that audiences fall silent under its spell.

The year's celebration will take place within a crystalline village designed by Love Mafia from Boulder, CO, promising to be a visual odyssey with art-inspired strolling performers and a video projection by Cobalt Multimedia. Numerous organizations have joined together for this New Years celebration, and event organizers hope to include the audience with a set break drum parade where costumes and drums are encouraged.

The Crystal Ball will provide all the elements for a magical and unique New Years experience, a springboard for epic improvisation that is made of legends. Tickets for the Crystal Ball will go on sale on October 5 and can be purchased directly from the band website at and can also be purchased at selected local outlets through Ticketmaster and through mail order at
