The Phoenix Landing in Central Square on Mass Ave in Cambridge, right across the river from Boston's Back Bay, has been renowned for years as an underground spot for deep house and techno. That reputation hasn't gone away, but now DeepTones and the owners of the Phoenix have partnered up to bring live music back to the stage after three years, allowing additional exposure to live original projects in the Metro Boston area.
Already booked through April, and with the opening night just two weeks behind, Tuesday nights at the Phoenix Landing have received exposure from the Boston Globe, Stuff @ Night, the Weekly Dig, and many more local publications.
Rocking the stage in the coming months is a full roster of talent ranging from soul and funk to live drum 'n' bass and trance, as well as hip-hop and jazz fusion. This Tuesday, DeepTones bring in its first out-of-state guest, the Family Groove Company from Chicago, on tour in the East Coast. Boasting vintage keyboards, a female bass player, and elaborate vocals from most of the band, this determined project is one DeepTones is very proud to host.
Additional groups to play Tuesdays include The Freelance Bishops, Amun Ra, Big Ben Hillman, DJ Brynmore, DJ Knife & DJ Tommee, BIEN, Stymie, Akashic Record (featuring players from Uncle Sammy), Gaffney (featuring players from Superhoney), Nikulydin, and many more. The full DeepTones schedule can be found at DeepTones.com.
